Sapho Bio Is Now DEA-Registered to Test Controlled Substances

What changed

Testing controlled substances requires a lab that is itself DEA-registered to receive, handle, and dispose of them. Until now, that has been a gap for many pharmacies: sterility, potency, and endotoxin testing of a controlled preparation meant either splitting work across providers or delaying release. With DEA registration in place, Sapho Bio can now perform that testing under one roof.

What we can test

Our registration covers Schedule III–V, the classes most relevant to compounding, including preparations built on substances such as testosterone, ketamine, buprenorphine, tramadol, and benzodiazepines. The testing itself is the same analytical work we run every day:

• Sterility testing, including our rapid, qPCR-based method

• Bacterial endotoxin testing

• Potency and content by HPLC / LC–MS

• Supporting analyses for lot release and stability

Testing only, never distribution

An important distinction: Sapho Bio does not distribute or dispense controlled substances. We receive samples strictly for analytical testing, handle them under DEA-compliant controls, and route any recoverable material through DEA-authorized reverse distribution for destruction. Our role is quality control, full stop.
